Vertical Blinds
Vertical blinds are the best selection for large windows or sliding-glass doors because they open and close in the same orientation vertically. This means that, for sliding glass doors, the shades open in the same direction as the door. They also offer exceptional side-to-side flexibility, allowing someone to slip through the blinds without opening and closing them. Hunter Douglas offers several varieties of vertical blinds, including:
Vertical Solutions® Vertical Blinds
These classic, minimalistic blinds operate like a classic set of vertical blinds—choose from a chain-and-cord operation, cord-and-wand operation, wand-only operation, or a vertical motorized system that operates your blinds at a button’s press. Minimalistic in nature but very effective, these come in vinyl and fabric slat options.
Somner® Custom Vertical Blinds
Much like our Vertical Solutions® line, these traditional blinds operate via your combination of cord, chains, wands, or motors. One key feature is the sheer amount of material and textile options that allow you to create the custom blind you’d always wanted. Choose from vinyl slats, aluminum slats, and fabric panels made from prints or textured solids—including some materials treated with Softex™, used to help reduce noise levels.
Cadence® Soft Vertical Blinds
With curvy vanes that combine the look of drapes with the control and structure of blinds, Hunter Douglas Cadence® is perfect for the large windows or patio doors in your space. These offer a recently patented headrail design that reduces light leak and allows for a smoother operation. Whether you choose to operate them with a continuous chain system, a wand, or a cord-and-wand, these draperies are as easy to use as they are gorgeous to look at.
Skyline® Gliding Window Panels
The choice of our vertical blinds with the largest panels, our Skyline® blinds showcase their fabric and texture across broad surfaces like patio doors or large windows. Available in over 600 colors and one of the largest fabric collections on the market, Skyline® Gliding Window Panels run on a two-channel track with a 2.5” headrail, allowing for minimal stack-back. Choose your closure and top treatment styles for a completely custom design!
Vertical Shades
Blinds aren’t the only option for window treatments for sliding glass doors or large windows! Did you know that almost any Hunter Douglas window treatment can be converted to work vertically? However, a couple selections were designed with patio doors and nontraditional window shapes in mind.
- Luminette® Privacy Sheers combine sheer fabric with solid vertical vanes that can rotate 180 degrees, allowing for diffused light when open or complete privacy when closed.
- Duette® Vertiglide™ Honeycomb Shades are a vertically oriented cellular shade that is constructed with energy efficiency in mind. Distinct pockets trap air in honeycomb-shaped cells to insulate against the outdoors.
- Design Studio® Drapery & Side Panels work for any window or door orientation. Available in the largest range of fabrics, colors, and patterns, as well as black out liner options, you can’t go wrong with our designer fabrics from Hunter Douglas.
